Agricultural Education

The This Old Farm team is excited each year to help provide agricultural education across the state of Indiana. We proudly sponsor various 4-H Fair events, and are happy to visit with our booth and educational materials at any venue.

As we plan for the new 2019 year, our team would like to offer our services and expertise to speak with your 4-H Members or students about processing, yields/grades, offals, our fully USDA and Certified Organic facility and much more.

One of our favorite youth programs is called “The Organ Petting Zoo”. We bring in a variety of organs to intrigue students of all ages and use them to begin a discussion of livestock health and care. This program is offered all year, but ample planning time should be allowed to ensure we can staff the program.

New this year we also will have limited availability to do Butchery demonstrations! This program will only be offered March-June, and ample planning time should be allowed to ensure we can staff the program.

We also have tour opportunities near our Colfax location. Because This Old Farm operates both a farm and a processing facility, we have the rare ability to provide a tour which illustrates all aspects of the food supply chain from the birth of the animal to the end product in the retail freezer and everything in between including slaughter and processing.

Are your students, 4-H Club members, or leaders interested in this great educational opportunity? If so, let’s start planning services, presentations, and/or tours you may be interested in. For additional information such as pricing, and to start planning, please email or give us a call at 765-324-2161.

We look forward to helping with your 2019 agricultural education programs!
