Farmers: Feeding Indiana’s Hungry Seeks Surplus Fall Produce

We are sharing this letter on behalf of Feeding Indiana’s Hungry:

Dear Hoosier Producer,
We’re reaching out to you with an opportunity to move product you ordinarily might be forced to leave in the field or compost. With one in six Hoosiers at risk of hunger, we now have an opportunity to feed those in need and help you recoup your losses.

The Indiana Farms to Food Banks network provides fresh, healthy produce to Hoosiers in need while creating a market for surplus or blemished produce. Participating food banks can pay below wholesale prices for Indiana-grown surplus and Number 2-grade produce (perfectly edible but not sellable on the retail market). Food banks then distribute it at no cost to struggling Hoosiers through food banks and pantries throughout the state.

Farmers and producers with available and qualified produce can call 317-396-9355 or e-mail product details including items available, quantity, delivery restrictions, and contact information to produce Funding will be available on an ongoing basis–please save our information for next year’s harvest as well!

Thanks for all you do to feed Hoosiers!
